Holger Hampf takes over as President of Designworks.
Effective 1st September 2017, Holger Hampf will take over as President of Designworks. The change in Designworks´ management is part of the strategic realignment of BMW Group Design, which was first announced in June 2017. Holger Hampf, presently Head of User Experience at BMW Group Design, will take over from Oliver Heilmer, who will assume the role of Head of MINI Design effective 1 September 2017.
Holger Hampf and Designworks have a strong history together. Holger originally joined Designworks in 1998 and was responsible for Product Design from 2002 to 2010 as a member of the Designworks Management team in Los Angeles. He then took a leadership position at another reputable design firm and re-joined the BMW Group in 2014 where his responsibilities have included user interface design and realigning the design team for digitalisation. During this time, Holger conducted numerous projects in which he collaborated with all three Designworks studios relying on the consulting and design expertise of the global team.
“We live in a time of immense transformation – Designworks is an inspiring consultancy that instils positive energy and drives direction through creative thinking and bright ideas”, says Holger Hampf. “What always fascinated me about Designworks is the ability to give strong, future-oriented impulses to the BMW Group, its brands and all other external clients worldwide. In this dynamic and fast moving market, I am looking forward to building on Designworks’ existing client partnerships as well as starting some exciting new ones.”
The realignment of the BMW Group design team is the next logical step within its corporate strategy Number ONE > NEXT which places a major focus on shorter development cycles, increasing digitalisation of design processes, as well as products and mobility experiences. Small, agile project teams will also form part of the new structure.
“Designworks is more than just a design studio: it is the strategic interface to our customers’ future living environment” added BMW Group Senior Vice President of Design, Adrian van Hooydonk.
