Annette Baumeister
Studio Director, Munich

In April 2024, Designworks has appointed Annette Baumeister as Director of the Munich Studio. Following a series of various leadership roles within the BMW Group, Annette took on leadership of our Shanghai Studio in July 2016, heading up the team there until June 2019. She then spent four years as Head of Material and Color Design at BMW.

When Annette made her return to the diversified world of Designworks, a vast variety of mobility projects beyond the automotive awaited her – from aviation to railway, from construction equipment to furniture, to experiential design for public spaces and luxury business towers in the Middle East.

Annette knows Designworks inside and out. Her empathic leadership style and sensitivity to the nuances of design allows her to build on the work of our talented design team in Munich. 

The appointment of Annette Baumeister also furthers the tradition of female leadership at Designworks: Since 2016, all three of the Designworks Studios have had women at the helm. Our Shanghai Studio is presently led by Vanessa Chang, while Julia de Bono heads up our Los Angeles Studio.
